| Big Screen TVs |
A big screen TV set is usually the center of a home entertainment system. The popular direct view 30 to 36 inch screens use a large glass picture tube. Projection CRT big screens, usually 50 inch and larger, use a set of three small picture tubes with lens and mirrors projecting to the rear of a large plastic screen. Newer technologies include DLP, LCOS or HD-ILA projectors, LCD projectors, and Plasma and LCD Display televisions. Wolf’s Service Center can fix all of these technologies, usually on-site. All we usually require is good information, including a model number, serial number, details on the symptom and how it developed, and accessibility to the set to properly disassemble and let us work on it

| Common Problems |
Older sets can commonly be repaired to component level when practical. Newer technologies generally are board level repair. If the problem is power related (dead set, shutdown, slow startup) the TV may give you a “blink” pattern on the LED’s on the front panel. If you see blinking LED’s, watch the pattern closely. The blink pattern may help us bring the right part on the first trip. If you are having a color problem, let us know if it happened all of a sudden, or slowly. If one color is missing or predominant, that information is helpful. A digital photo emailed to us is even more helpful. On Plasma and LCD “flat” TV’s, you may find a line or lines in the picture, or you may find dots or pixels in the picture. If so, digital pictures are even more helpful. If you are unable to take a digital picture, be as descriptive as possible in your service request.

| Requesting a Service Call |
If your television is under warranty, please locate your proof of purchase (sales receipt) for the technician. He will need to take a copy with him, so please make a copy in advance or fax it to our office in advance. This will avoid any delays. If your set is under dealer service contract, call us to set up the appointment and we will give you instructions if you need to contact the contract company. In most cases, we will handle all the paperwork and billing for you from start to end. If you are paying for the repair, please see our rate page.

| Preparing for the Repairs |
Have your Big Screen in a position to be serviced. We ask that wall mounted sets be off the wall if possible, and heavy sets built into entertainment centers be removed or situated so we can remove the back and the front. If it is impossible to access the front and rear of the set, please call us to discuss the option of using our delivery crew to provide home/shop/home service. Certain manufacturers have contracted with other options to service wall mounted sets. However, if your set is built inside a wall, or the top of the set is more than 7 feet above the ground, please discuss alternate arrangements. If you do not have the original factory TV remote, let us know. Many times the remote is required for service menu adjustments.

| Repairing your Television |
Schedule a couple of hours for the repair procedures and adjustments. It is very common for the complete repair to require one or two return trips for parts or special test equipment. If the repairs can not be completed in the home, our Service Center has developed ways to service your unit, either by picking up the entire set or pulling the chassis or light box without picking up the entire set.
